Can you tell me if there a law in existence in Pennsylvania that says that car insurance companies can just cancel a car insurance policy because of accidents wherein you are at fault?

According to the Insurance Department of Pennsylvania car insurance companies are allowed to cancel or non-renew policies for certain reasons. The reason may be:

• If you have not paid your vehicle insurance policy premiums
• If you have been involved with 2 or more accidents of the same type within 36 months wherein you are found to be at fault
• If you have been convicted of DUI/DWI

If your car insurance providers cancel or do not renew your vehicle insurance policy that you purchased to drive in Pennsylvania, they should send you notification or a written form explaining why they are canceling or non renewing your vehicle insurance policy.

If however you disagree with your car insurance carrier’s decision or explanation, you can always send a letter to the Pennsylvania Insurance Department why you do not agree with the cancellation or non renewal of your vehicle insurance policy in Pennsylvania.

A: I can’t say without seeing more information if you will see a rare raise when you begin to file your SR22 form certificate, but I can tell you that most people do see a raise, and that it’s even a possibility which you shouldn’t rule out that your car insurance policy will be completely canceled or your company will decide not to renew it.

There are a couple of instances which might allow you to escape this common pattern. If you have a long history as a customer with your car insurance company, then beginning to file an SR22 form certificate might not have any effect at all. Even if you do, your rates might not rise terribly because you will likely become part of the average class rather than the extremely high risk one which most people who file the S22 form certificate are part of.

A: The key to getting excellent SR22 rates with a new car is for you to avoid doing just that–buying a new car. Although newer vehicles can be tempting, especially for teenagers who are fascinated with the idea of getting a car for the first time, the more your car is worth, the more you will have to pay to insure it. While you’re financing a car, you’ll need to have collision coverage, so your car insurance company will want to charge you more just in case it will have to pay to replace your car if your teenager should total it. So, the main key to good SR22 rates with a new car is for you to keep it cheap–stay away from new and high priced used cars.

Even though you may be getting a used car in order to save money on your SR22 rates for car insurance, since you are insuring a teenager you don’t want the car to be too old. Teenagers are notoriously dangerous drivers and very high risk, so you should get a car which is new enough to have many of the latest safety features installed. Try to get something which is at most 5-7 years old, so that it will be safe for your son to drive and will last him awhile. He’ll be able to offer you more help making payments the cheaper the car is, too.

A: Even if you are pretty good driver and have a history of being so, having SR22 insurance will almost always immediately racket you into a category of higher risk. This happens because of the way car insurance companies rate policies, which is on a basis of risk. So what’s SR22 insurance got to do with it? Well, even if you didn’t get you SR22 insurance requirement because of a moving violation or anything particularly dangerous, most of the reasons for a license to be suspended are pretty risky–drunk driving, accumulating ticket points, getting into an accident. Others, which aren’t quite as risky, such as driving without insurance, are still negative in the eyes of the car insurance company because they want customers who are able to pay them consistently. If you have a record of being uninsured, then you’re less likely to do this.

Lucky for you, it won’t last for ever. What’s SR22 insurance but a temporary thing? In five years, so long as you stay out of trouble in the meantime, you’ll no longer see the effects of SR22 insurance on your record.

A: It’s nowhere near possible to just point to a specific company and say, “that’s the place with the cheapest SR22 insurance”. You can, however, understand some things based on the group your car insurance company falls into. The companies you’ll get the best prices from are going to be the ones which cater to all kinds of customers, like whatever company you had before you had to get an SR22. However, SR22 drivers can’t always get insured with these companies.

If you can’t, you have to take another option, which is the next cheapest SR22 insurance. Companies in this category only offer insurance to drivers who have high risk, such as bad driving records, SR22s, or high performance cars. Again, even here you aren’t going to be able to purchase insurance 100% of the time.

Finally, you have your least cheapest SR22 insurance category, which is Pennsylvania’s assigned-risk car insurance program. If you are unable to get insured elsewhere, you can absolutely do it here, with one catch–empty your pockets, because the prices aren’t cheap.

A: Although some states do have laws which mandate a grace period for late payments to auto insurance companies, in Pennsylvania there is no such law. Individual companies are able to shape their own policies which may or may not allow grace periods for DMV SR22 filing if not paid on time, and some do while others don’t. If you are worried about this happening in the future, you have a couple of solutions.

While shopping for companies, ask ahead of time if your DMV SR22 filing will be canceled if you make a payment a day or two late. A: First of all, when buying expensive SR22 certificate, be realistic. You may prefer to have high levels of coverage, but depending on the situation you are in concerning bills, debt, finances, family and so on, it may be out of your league. Budget your expenses and determine how much SR22 insurance you can actually afford.

If you’re going to cut coverages, make sure you look at them carefully before you do. If your family doesn’t have health insurance, then you might want personal injury protection on your SR22 certificate insurance to cover any injuries should any of you get into a car accident. If you do end up keeping higher amounts of coverage, try raising your deductibles for lower premiums.

SR22 certificate insurance is about more than price or name recognition, and the car insurance company who has the cheapest quote isn’t automatically the best. You need a company which has good pricing in addition to great service and great deals.

A: The Pennsylvania Department of Motor Vehicles is the department which handles all of your sr22 business, since it is also the department which handles your driver’s license. When your license is suspended, it is suspended through them, and so when it is restored it has to be restored through them.

You are able to restore your driver’s license with your sr22 in two separate ways. In one way, you have to present the SR22 form in person. Your car insurance company will send it to you, and after putting your signature on it, you will take it up to the Department of Motor Vehicles, present your form, pay the fee and anything else required in order to receive your license back, and then you’re good to go.
