Q: What is an SR22 premium rated on?
A: Several factors go into what an SR22 is rated on, and some of them seem unrelated to the subject of driving. If you pay attention to these factors, then you can control those that you are able to and be aware enough to budget for the ones which are out of your hands. Here are a few of the factors which determine what an SR22 is rated on.
- Your driving record. If, other than your SR22, you have a pretty good one–no tickets, crashes, claims, and so on, then you’ll pay less on your SR22 insurance.
- Your demographics. Some seemingly unrelated categories pay more or less for car insurance, and ratings can be based on your marital status, how old you are, your gender, and so on.
- How you drive can also have an effect. If you use a lot of mileage, then you will pay more, and the same if you use your car mostly for business purposes. Where you drive can also have an effect.
- The kind of car you drive. If you drive a car which is dangerous or expensive, then you will pay more for car insurance, because you’ll be more likely to get into an accident and the damages will cost more.
- Your coverage. The more coverage you take on, the more you will pay.
